HR is considered a stable job, with most roles enjoying a tenure of between 1 and 5 years, although this number is generally dependent on how long you wish to remain in this role, as HR roles are usually permanent positions that are required in most companies.
For example, the average salary for a Vice President HR/Chief People Officer in the UK for 2023 is between £120k/£270k for a permanent role, with a day rate of between £800/£1200. The role has enjoyed a yearly increase of 18% to changes in the total number of professionals between 2021 and 2022.

Both of these roles represent 2 different ends of the spectrum of Human Resources roles available in the UK, and you can see that both roles have a varying rate of pay dependant on factors such as experience and the title on offer.

About Our HR Salary Guide 2023
Our salary study is based both on the projects carried out for our clients in 2022 and on the candidate interviews carried out by our specialised consultants, as well as on the in -depth analysis of our research database, which is constantly updated by our teams in the UK and internationally. It is supplemented by various information from our partner job boards and professional social networks.
Each sheet indicates the salary benchmarks according to the years of experience acquired in the position concerned. Salaries are expressed in gross annual pounds ( £ ) and do not take into account variable elements (possible bonuses, participation or profit -sharing, benefits in kind), unless specifically mentioned by us. This data is not exhaustive : they are averages that may differ according to the economic situation, the region, the size of the company, and its sector of activity, but also according to the profile and experience of a candidate.
Each file also presents the approximate number of experts in the function, the demand for hiring the role, the evolution of the total number of professionals compared to the previous year, the breakdown between genders, where these talents are located, turnover, and median seniority by function.
